Hon. Lady Justice Kossy Bor

Hon. Lady Justice Kossy studied law at the University of Nairobi and was engaged in private practice of law before she joined the Kenya Anti-Corruption Commission as an attorney and investigator for over 10 years where conducted investigations on the illegal alienation of public assets and represented the commission in recovery proceedings filed in court. She pursued alternative dispute resolution mechanisms in asset recovery and was instrumental in the recovery of public land including land reserved for schools, water treatment and distribution, public beach, Uhuru Gardens, Mombasa, court land, prison land, public clinic’s land, ferry land and road reserves among others.When the Asset Recovery Inter-Agency Network for Eastern Africa (ARINEA) was formed in Kigali in November 2013, she was elected as the first President ARINEA a position she held until September 2016. She championed inter-agency cooperation and coordination among the law enforcement agencies and was instrumental in international cooperation initiatives on asset recovery targeting proceeds of crime. Kossy was appointed a Judge of the Environment and Land Court in December 2016. She was elected President of the Kenya Judges Welfare Association in September 2021 and served for two years. She served in the Committee that drafted the Judicial Code of Conduct. She enjoys reading, taking long walks and finds time to spend in nature for inner peace. She is passionate about the environment, justice, integrity, public service and women empowerment. She is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Women’s, Children’s and Nature’s Rights in Environmental Governance.
