Executive Director
Lígia Batista is executive director of the Marielle Franco Institute. She graduated in Law from the Fluminense Federal University and is currently a master's student in Public Policy and Human Rights at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, producing analyses on democracy and the challenges to the political representation of black women. He has worked for 10 years in international organizations focused on defending human rights and promoting racial and gender justice in Brazil and Latin America. He is also a fellow of the United Nations International Decade for People of African Descent (2015-2024).
